One of the most important things as a health coach I like to address with my clients is their kitchen. Having the proper appliances and utensils is vital in creating healthy, delicious, and time-saving recipes! These items help take the time and frustration out of cooking! So this month, I am so excited to share with you, my must have accoutrements in the kitchen.
My first love in the kitchen is my Blendtec blender. It is worth its weight in gold! After much research and my friend Colleen’s rave reviews about her Blendtec, my husband and I invested in one about two years ago. I love, love my blender! It really does what the infomercial claims. Their customer service is stellar and hands down, no other blender can make a smoothie like Blendtec! So what can you make in a Blendtec? You can make smoothies, nut butters, nut milks, soups (yes soups!), ice cream, salsa, dips, it grinds flax-seed and chia seed so it saves you time incorporating them into recipes! You can also blend fruits and veggies and have instant juice. If you don’t like all of the fiber (pulp), then you can just strain it in a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Less mess to clean versus a juicer!
My second item I use on a daily basis is my Santoku Chef Knife. If you don’t have a quality sharp knife to prepare foods, you will be one frustrated woman in the kitchen! Invest in a high quality knife so you won’t have to spend the money again. I use the Pampered Chef brand. They have quality utensils, which are fairly priced. And they have a great return policy. The third item I know you will love because they will save you money are the Debbie Meyer Green Bags. I have always heard about them but never tried them until last year. They extend the life of your produce and are BPA-free! I no longer waste produce in my fridge. Even my herbs last long!
Another item I highly recommend is a zester. I use it to grate lemon, lime, and even ginger. I am always using these ingredients in smoothies, stir fry, and even baking.
And number five would be an oil mister. It cuts back on calories, cost, and still delivers divine taste and texture for your taste buds! A mister is great for salads, basting, stir fry, and so much more.
